Our Guest Artist and Scholar

Dr. John Shévin Foster has worked academically and professionally as the Director of Theatre at Shaw University and Virginia State University, as Visiting Professor and playwriting mentor at New York University and as the Education Manager and producer at the Brooklyn Academy of Music/BAM. The founding Artistic Director of Inneract Productions: Quality Theatre of Color, he facilitated the workshop performance for Bridges and Tunnel: Sarah Jones, which won the 2006 Tony Award. As a playwright, his work has been produced nationally and centers on accurate portrayals of African American life. He is an August Wilson Scholar and is a past president and board member of Black Theatre Network.
