Northern California Arts Project (NCAP) is committed to supporting educators as they assist all students in meeting their full potential academically, personally, and professionally. NCAP does this through its professional learning and leadership development programs.
Located in the Department of Art & Art History at California State University, Chico.

NCAP offers research-based professional learning aligned with the California Arts Standards, the California Arts Education Framework, as well as California’s standards in Career & Technical Education, Career & Technical Education, English Language Development and Common Core Content Literacy for Technical Subjects.

NCAP provides professional learning programs for educators in the 17 northern most counties in California.

NCAP Introduction to Music Making Level

Engage directly in music making while uncovering music’s subject matter content, language, and power! Build your musical knowledge, skills, and confidence so you can promote music making and learning in your classroom. No prior experience needed.

Space is limited to 35 teachers. Registrations after this limit has been reached will be added to a waitlist and notified if/when space is available.

  • Dates: June 11–13, 2024
  • Location: California State University, Chico
  • Registration Fee: $375.00
  • Registration Deadline: April 15, 2024. Registration will close if filled before the deadline.
  • Registration Cancellations prior to May 1, 2024 will be charged a $50 cancellation fee, per registration. After May 1, 2024, no refunds will be issued.

In support of Any Given Child: Butte County districts (Orville City Elementary, Palermo Union Elementary, and Thermalito Union Elementary) Northern California Arts Project (NCAP) and The California Arts Project (TCAP) are providing teachers in the three districts priority registration.

NCAP Introduction to Drawing & Painting Level 1

Engage in hands-on visual arts studio exercises to develop artistic knowledge and skills. Through modeling and direct engagement expand your visual arts content and pedagogical knowledge, skills, and confidence for the elementary classroom. Materials and supplies will be provided. No prior visual arts experience is needed.

NCAP’s Arts Education Network

The NCAP Arts Education Network convenes online once per quarter supporting K–12 through post-secondary dance, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts, and CTE AME educators to further equitable, standards-based arts education that promotes students’ artistic literacy. In these unprecedented times the Networks forge new opportunities for teachers and administrators in the arts to connect, collaborate, exchange ideas, share experiences, and stay informed of regional and statewide arts education issues and topics. Network session time will be 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
