2022 Courageous Creativity Conference Schedule

The schedule may change due to park/resort or speaker conditions beyond our control.

Conference check-in will begin at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6th, in the Sequoia South Foyer of the Grand Californian. Once you have checked in you will select your Thursday conference activities on a first come basis. Some activities are limited in space and be closed as they are filled. There is a break between the registration period and the Opening Session at 5:15 PM, which will be held in the Sequoia Ballroom. Dinner will be served that evening for conference attendees, followed by the opening Keynote.

Please note, for these times, each attendee will be offered one “ticketed event”.
These choices will be made on first come basis on July 6 during registration. These ticketed event spaces are limited, but there are enough spaces total for one per person.

Wednesday’s Keynote

David E Miller, Director of Entertainment Technical, Production and Integration for Disney Live Entertainment, Disneyland® Resort

As the director of Technical, Production and Integration for Disney Live Entertainment at the Disneyland Resort, David leads the teams responsible for the technical design and delivery functions for Entertainment across the Resort. He also leads the Guest Talent Programs and Events team, bringing educational and performance opportunities for students that visit from around the world.

He has been a part of several of Disney’s most exciting entertainment offerings, including Rivers of Light in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort, Mickey and the Wondrous Book at Hong Kong Disneyland, and Pixar Play Parade at Disney California Adventure Park. David worked on the construction and opening programs at Hong Kong Disneyland as a technical director. In addition to his work for Disney, David has also worked on design and production for Opera Pacific, Geffen Playhouse, Princess Cruises, and Seattle Opera. He is a graduate from UCLA with an MFA in Lighting Design.

Thursday’s Special Presentations

8:00 AM — Garrett Lambert, Sr. Trailer Editor, Universal Pictures

Garrett Lambert, a Senior Trailer Editor, has worked the last 18 years both on the studio and independent vendor side of the theatrical marketing industry. His award-winning work crosses genres including campaigns for 1917, First Man, the Jurassic World franchise, Doctor Strange, Bridge of Spies, The BFG, the Despicable Me franchise, the X-Men series, the Planet of the Apes trilogy, Unbroken and Lincoln.

1:00 PM — World of Color

4:00 PM — Ethan Reed, Creative Director, Character Artist, Production Designer, Visual Effects Supervisor, Toy Designer, Author

From his current work as a Toy Designer at Just Play to his more than 20 years as an Imagineer for the Walt Disney Company, Ethan Reed’s art and designs have been captivating and entertaining audiences around the world for decades.

While at Disney, Ethan held a variety of roles and had the honor to work on adding new magic to many classic attractions such as Pirates of Caribbean and the Jungle Cruise. Ethan also helped to create new beloved Disney experiences including Mystic Manor (Hong Kong Disneyland), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom & Shanghai Disneyland Park), Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage (Tokyo DisneySea), Minnie’s Style Studio (Tokyo Disneyland) Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue (Disney California Adventure) and The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure (Disney’s California Adventure & Magic Kingdom). Ethan was also the lead designer on the incredibly popular Duffy and Friends merchandise line for Disney Parks.

Later this year Ethan’s book “Santa Stops at Disneyland” will be published by Disney Publishing and Random House. Santa Stops at Disneyland has been a true labor of love for author and illustrator Ethan Reed — who began work on the book for his eldest son’s first Christmas. For 15 years Ethan spent nights and weekends developing the story and illustrations, finally completing the book in 2022.

Friday’s Special Presentation: Walt Disney Imagineering Panel Discussion — “Getting Started on a Career in the Arts”

Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative force that imagines, designs, and brings to life all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide. Founded by Walt Disney in 1952, Imagineering embodies a world-class design firm, premier development company, extraordinary storytelling studio, and cutting-edge innovation lab — all rolled into one — with an overwhelming breadth of expert talent from around the globe. “Getting Started on a Career in the Arts” will feature a panel of Imagineers from a variety of disciplines sharing personal stories of their career journeys and how their passion for the arts led them to Imagineering.

2022 Courageous Creativity Conference Information

A light jacket or sweater is highly recommended in hotel meeting spaces, as it tends to be cold in the conference breakout rooms and in the main ballroom. You may wish to pack comfortable shoes and clothing. Some activities require walking. It can be warm in the daytime and cool in the evening. Layers work well.

Please be aware for the comfort of all Guests, smoking is not permitted in the theme parks, hotels of the Disneyland Resort, and the Esplanade between the parks or Downtown Disney District.

Due to the nature of the conference, only those registered for the conference may attend conference activities, including meals. Children are not allowed in any of the conference activities including breakout sessions, meals, or presentations. Photographs or recording devices may not be allowed during some of the conference activities. Conference ID (name tags) must be worn at all times. Thank you for understanding.

Conference Parking Information

Parking is offered at discounted conference rates for those staying at the hotel and for participants driving in daily.

  • Conference Parking Rates & Information
  • $25 Self-Parking per car/per day (across the street)
  • $35 Valet Parking per car/per day
  • If you are driving in daily (and not an overnight guest) you must let the parking cast member know you are attending the conference.
  • If you do not identify yourself as a conference attendee, you will be subject to standard rates for parking — currently $35 for self and $50 for valet, subject to change.

Information from Disney on the Specially Priced Theme Park Tickets

These special ticket prices are not available once you arrive at the Resort and are intended only for guests who are participating in this Event. Only the registered attendee is allowed to purchase tickets using the conference discounted ticket store link and they can purchase up to six (6) tickets maximum. Disney reserves the right to contact the ticket purchaser to request event registration confirmation. If it is discovered that the purchaser of the ticket is not participating or attending this event it will be considered a misuse of this offer and ticket, and the ticket(s) will be blocked and will not be eligible for a refund. In addition, these tickets cannot be purchased for the purpose of being resold.
